Hiking to Rocher De Falize & Rocher De Warche: route Les Deux Rochers

If you go hiking in the Malmedy region, Rocher De Falize is undoubtedly one of the highlights on your bucket list. And if you haven’t already, you’d better add this viewpoint, because this rock gives you an astonishing view of the Warche valley. In the village of Bellevaux is where you start the walk Les Deux Rochers. This one takes you past Rocher De Falize and the equally stunning Rocher De Warche!

Practical Info:

Start in the village of Bellevaux

The walking route Les Deux Rochers can actually be started in two different places. You can either start in the village of Bellevaux, at the crossroads at the church. Or, you can start at Ferme des Bruyères. There is also an information board with walking routes and you can also park your car there.

I chose the second option and started at Ferme des Bruyères. This is also the best starting point if you just want to see Rocher De Falize. After all, from here it is only a few hundred metres to the viewpoint!

If you prefer a balanced distribution of the highlights, start in the village of Bellevaux. Then you will come across Rocher De Falize after about a third of the walk and Rocher De Warche after two thirds.

The Les Deux Rochers hiking trail

When I started at Ferme des Bruyères, it was only a few hundred metres of walking on the narrow asphalt road until I had to enter the forest on the left and almost immediately arrived at Rocher De Falize. This 70-metre high rock overlooks the Warche valley and river. Because it sticks out just a bit, it seems like you are floating above the valley. A very nice place to enjoy the view!

After this, the walking route continues through the forest and descends until you reach the River Warche and you are therefore in the valley. This part is mainly on narrow forest paths where it is best to be careful not to trip over dangerously protruding tree roots. The valley below is also at least as beautiful as the view you have from above. The sound, on the other hand, is a bit different, because you can hear the cars racing from Spa-Francorchamps. So if you want a relaxing walk then you better check the race times beforehand!

On dirt roads, you walk through the valley, along the River Warche and its vast meadows. You enjoy the view until you get back to a paved road. Here the blue rectangles indicate that you have to turn left, but if you also want to see Rocher De Warche, turn right. This viewpoint deviates from the route for a while. To do this, you go under the motorway up into a dead end street. When this street finally ends in a dead end, you have to turn left into the forest to get to Rocher De Warche.

Personally, I even liked Rocher De Warche a little better than Rocher De Falize. But that may have to do with the beautiful sunset I saw there. In any case, the rock is just a little more spectacular. And here too you have a beautiful view over the Warche river and its valley.

Once you have enjoyed the view, you return to where you left the route. From here you walk on asphalt roads towards the village of Bellevaux. If you started there, this is also the end of the route, if not, you continue walking on asphalt roads until you reach Ferme des Bruyères again. Let’s be honest, this is not the most beautiful part of the hiking trail, but it is certainly a steep climb. Fortunately, you will be treated to a beautiful view along the way!

Consider making a reservation for lunch or dinner when you arrive at Ferme des Bruyères. I haven’t eaten there myself, but the reviews are positive!

Good to know

  • Wear sturdy shoes so that you can walk around safely on the rocks without slipping.
  • The rocks themselves are not accessible with a buggy, but you could try it on yourself.
  • Dogs can walk on a lead, but be careful near the rocks.
