Starting at the Tourist Information Point in Berdorf
This short yet unique trail begins at the Berdorf Tourist Information Point, located next to Camping Martbush just outside the center of Berdorf. From here, you can directly enter the woods. There are several large parking areas where you can easily park your car for free. If you’re traveling with a motorhome, you can’t stay overnight in this parking area, but you can do so at Camping Martbush.
B2 Trail Berdorf Müllerthal
Just before Camping Martbush, you’ll find a narrow path leading into the woods. Turn here to start the B2 trail. You’ll follow a dirt path that guides you deeper into Müllerthal, with the B2 markers on the trees as your guide. Soon, rocks begin to appear, and you enter a narrow gorge. The wooden bridges you encounter turn into a metal suspension bridge that leads you through the gorge. This is quite spectacular for a first taste of Müllerthal!
As you continue, the rocks grow into towering formations above you. You walk alongside and occasionally beneath these rock formations. Walking here, you immediately understand why this part of Luxembourg is often called “Little Switzerland.” While there aren’t any mountains, the rocks are definitely impressive.
The path takes you up and down along cliffs and caves. Many of these have names marked on the rocks with blue-painted signs. Pay attention to the trail markers, as you may occasionally take a small detour to explore special rock formations further. You’ll climb through claustrophobically narrow gorges and descend into dark hollows. If you thought this was just a “regular” trail, you were mistaken!
Tip: Ask the Tourist Information Point for a map of all the detours through the rocks.
Because of the high rock walls and cliffs, this is one of the places in Luxembourg where you can still do some rock climbing. You’ll see climbers hauling their gear along the path until they reach one of the rock walls. Make sure to keep a safe distance from the climbers to avoid putting yourself and them at risk.
After many rock walls and detours, you’ll eventually reach a small viewpoint overlooking the treetops of Müllerthal. From here, it’s not far back to the Tourist Information Point in Berdorf. Perfect, because you can grab a bite to eat or enjoy a refreshing drink at Bistro Martbusch.
